Alloys in Regular
Production
Non-standard, non stocked marine
heat exchanger tubing: manufacture and shipment to
repair contractors anywhere in the world.
Bar, custom profile, rod &
wire is available for fabrication, machining and structural
applications; plate is available to order in some
alloys.
The Nibrofor alloys should
be considered as substitutes for beryllium copper
(BeCu); send for special brochure.

Some features of copper
and its alloys for marine applications:
Copper alloy tube is employed
throughout the marine industry for construction and
repair of condensers, marine heat exchanger tubing,
chillers, boilers, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
and instrument tubing. As in most application areas,
it is their combination of high thermal and electrical
conductivity, malleability and corrosion resistance
that require their use.
Aluminium bronze was primarily
developed for pump bearings and fasteners. These alloys
have high strength & combined corrosion, abrasion
and cavitation resistance.
However there is another
vital characteristic that ensures their use in the
marine industry: resistance to bio-fouling. This results
from the fact that most marine organisms find copper
poisonous and cannot grow in sea-water systems that
employ copper and copper alloys. In areas where this
is a problem and requires regular maintenance, refitting
with copper alloys will give long term cost benefits.
